Apache

Developed for use on the Linux operating system, Apache (also referred to as Apache HTTP Server or Apache Web Server) is web server software that is particularly significant due to the role it played in the rise of the World Wide Web. Apache was the first real alternative to the Netscape web server (which is called the Oracle iPlanet Web Server these days) and in 2009, it became the first web server software to reach the mark of having over 100 million websites running it.

Apache is a highly flexible and feature-rich OS that supports a wide variety of applications and functions, including many compiled modules that enhance the core functionality of the OS. Some of the programming language interfaces supported by Apache include TCL, PHP, Python and Perl, and common authentication modules include mod_auth, mod_access and mod_auth_digest. Other Apache features include Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security support, the proxy module mod_proxy, the mod_rewrite URL rewriter, custom log files, and filtering support in the form of mod_ext_filter and mod_include modules.

NationalNet Hosting provides knowledge and support for the Apache OS users to ensure customers will continue to enjoy the performance and security benefits of this powerful, free and open source server operating system.
