VB Script is a programming language developed by Microsoft Corporation to be used to interpret instructions for use in browsers and other applications on the world wide web. It works in conjunction with Microsoft’s ActiveX controls and Java applets. It comes with the Windows operating system and can be interpreted by Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browsers as well as others.
When VB Script was introduced it allowed users and web developers to quickly create Windows applications with a graphical user interface. It has been upgraded several times since it’s introduction in 1988 and is now being deprecated in favor of Windows PowerShell for those uses, but it is still widely used on internet sites. It works in a very similar way to Java Script within web pages and allows web developers to use server-side processing through Microsoft’s ASP engine and library.
